Summary
At the Jewish Solidarity School (JSS), we are here to provide anti-Zionist Jewish political education, rooted in anti-imperial, anti-colonial and anti-fascist traditions. We work with individuals, educators, organisers and allied groups, focussing on political education, discussion and community support. We believe that our suite of offerings – courses, written resources, events, mentoring and anti-racism training – can empower people to engage in difficult conversations, challenge reactionary worldviews including Zionism, and access anti-Zionist Jewish and Palestinian perspectives.
Vision
We established the Jewish Solidarity School as a political education initiative to widen access within our community and beyond to forms of transformative knowledge from an antizionist and more widely, anti-oppressive, perspective. We hope that by equipping people with this knowledge, more of us will be able to engage in solidarity work in the face of global fascisms.
JSS is committed to naming and educating about the political ideology which continues to oppress Palestinians and Jews in different ways: Zionism. Our approach to anti-Zionist education is not, however, dogmatic and we wish to be generous in listening whilst being firm in our critical interrogation. In this way, JSS will strengthen anti-Zionist communities standing in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for liberation, helping to normalise anti-Zionist perspectives within Jewish communal spaces, and support more effective approaches to antisemitism and solidarity. We envision a future where Jewish people can make informed decisions about Zionism without fear of exclusion, anti-Zionist worldviews are accepted across Jewish life, and Judaism is wrangled out of Zionist hegemony, as part of a broader struggle against fascism. We hope you will join us in building this anti-Zionist, anti-fascist future together.
Our vision at JSS is a world where everyone has the knowledge, tools and interpersonal support to think critically about Zionism; where everyone in the Jewish community can openly engage with and respect Palestinian worldviews and anti-Zionist ideas; and ultimately, where we untangle Judaism from Zionism as part of a broader movement towards liberation and against fascism. We believe that a liberatory form of Jewish education – committed to anti-racist, anti-Zionist values; in solidarity with Palestinian political education groups; and delivered in communal settings – will be critical to these transformations.
